There are a wide variety of seasonal employment opportunities available in the Napier, Hastings and Central Hawke’s Bay areas.

Orchard Work is available all year round. However we do require a large number of seasonal workers from November through to May.  Apple thinning, general orchard work, orchard QC’s, tractor drivers, supervisors are some examples of the work available.

Orchard Administrator – Fixed Term Maternity Cover

Mr Apple NZ is New Zealand's largest vertically integrated apple grower, packer and exporter with 64 orchards, 4 pack houses and several cool stores. We are looking for an outstanding administrator who has an eye for detail and has previous experience working with computer programs. This is a maternity leave cover until approximately February 2019. Based on Scotlands Orchard in Hastings, you will be responsible for:

  • Collating all payroll information and ensuring accurate data entry into systems
  • Emails, phone calls, mail and other communications and correspondence
  • Ensuring training and all records are compliant with current industry standards
  • Undertaking inductions for staff when required and completing all employment paperwork
  • Maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring compliance with the company H&S policies
  • Dealing with staff enquiries and being the first point of contact for our overseas workers, specifically for their pastoral care needs, this includes organising bank and IRD details and medical visits
  • Collating all audit paperwork and keeping this up to date throughout the year
  • Creating purchase orders and processing accounts.

You must have previous administrative experience, and have an intermediate ability with Excel. You need to have a can-do attitude and be self-managing. No job will be too big or too small for you. You must have a current full licence. Training and familiarisation of our systems will start at the beginning of employment. Hours of work are flexible between 30-40 per week.

FRUIT PRODUCTION APPRENTICESHIPS

Mr Apple is offering apprenticeships in fruit production in conjunction with Bostocks New Zealand.  The four-year programme offers the apprentices the opportunity to earn while they learn, studying towards a National Certificate in Horticulture (a NZQA Level 4 qualification) while in full-time employment.

Training encompasses fruit production, organic growing, packhouse operation, tractor driving, chainsaw operation and much more.

Successful graduates of the programme will be offered a permanent role in our orchards or packhouses, with good prospects of promotion to become supervisors, foremen or managers.

Please note that you must have at least a Learner Driver Licence and be at least 17 years old to be considered for a Fruit Production Apprenticeship.
