Mr Apple is New Zealand’s largest apple company producing apples for countries all over the world, including our own. Employees are our most valuable asset and we pride ourselves in our ability to grow and train people. The company employs 380 permanent staff increasing to a peak of 2000 during the apple season. We require an experienced H&S Coordinator to assist the team with leading active engagement across a diverse business.

 

Reporting to the H&S Advisor this full-time role will be varied and busy and have you involved in all aspects of H&S. You will be responsible for incident and injury management, maintaining the H&S database, conducting site audits and ensuring a practical and proactive approach to these vital areas through advising and engaging with a wide range of people.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Day to day incident and injury management
  • Assisting with incident investigation and reporting
  • Ensuring data integrity of the H&S system (Risk Manager)
  • Review and maintain regular compliance such as permits, training requirements, licences and safety equipment
  • Undertaking site visits and audits
  • Regular reporting on various critical measures
  • Being familiar with and keeping up to date with key legislative requirements
  • Coordinating H&S training

 

Excellent people skills and proven experience in a similar role and industry would be highly regarded. You need to have a practical and down to earth approach to your work and be calm under pressure. The ability to manage systems and time effectively to keep up with the fluctuating seasons and workload is imperative in this role. Ideally you will have some H&S knowledge and some previous experience with injury management. You must have a current full licence as you will be visiting our Orchard and Post-Harvest sites.
